Maquis is a solo worker-placement game that features variable goals and a play time of around twenty minutes. The player strategically deploys their resistance agents throughout the town to accomplish objectives such as sabotaging trains and disseminating underground newspapers. However, they must also contend with patrols of Milice collaborators and Wehrmacht soldiers who are constantly monitoring the area. Agents who fail to return to the safe house by the end of the day risk being captured by the enemy and disappearing forever.
The game includes a game board, 15 pawns, 24 resource tokens, 6 spare room tiles, 9 markers, 11 mission cards, 10 patrol cards, a morale/soldiers tracking card, and a reference card.
